1Overview
The CSV Import form supports auto-detection and explicit PENZC, PNEZC, PENZ, PNEZ, ENZ and NEZ layouts. It previews every row, suggests asset types from CSV codes, allows per-row or all-row mapping and requires Existing/Proposed status when SpotHeight rows are selected.
Survey or schedule data supplies point/easting/northing/elevation rows that should become infrADAC point assets.
2Before you begin
- Confirm the CSV coordinate order, delimiter/content and project coordinate system.
- Load a profile containing the target point asset definitions.
- Back up the design before a large import.
3CSV format and mapping rules
The preview grid is the validation surface; use it before any model changes.
| Feature or choice | Current behaviour |
|---|---|
| Formats | Supports point/easting/northing/elevation/code combinations with E/N order variants and formats without point/code fields.Common survey exports can be used without manual column rewriting. |
| Auto-detection | Detects a likely format but keeps an explicit format control and Reload action.Users can correct ambiguous files. |
| Asset mapping | Suggests from CSV Code and supports per-row or bulk assignment grouped by asset class.Mixed asset CSVs remain manageable. |
| SpotHeight status | Existing/Proposed becomes mandatory only when selected rows map to Surface SpotHeight. The receiver status is not guessed silently. |
4Parse, map and import CSV rows
Coordinate order and asset mapping must both be correct before Import becomes meaningful.
Load and parse the file
Start with auto-detect, then override when necessary.
- Run
ADACCSV. - Browse to the CSV file.
- Choose Auto detect or the exact PENZC/PNEZC/PENZ/PNEZ/ENZ/NEZ format and select Reload.
Review the preview
Do not import rows with swapped or missing coordinates.
- Check Point, Easting, Northing, Elevation and CSV Code columns.
- Use sortable headings to find invalid or outlying values.
- Clear the Import checkbox for rows that should be skipped.
Map asset types
Use suggestions or assign a controlled type.
- Review Matched from CSV Code suggestions.
- Choose an ADAC Asset Type per row or use the header dropdown to apply one type to all editable rows.
- For selected SpotHeight rows, choose Existing or Proposed status.
Import and review
Shared global attributes are collected once.
- Select Import.
- Complete shared global attributes for the selected types.
- Wait for parallel preparation/creation to finish.
- Review Imported and Skipped counts and each row status.
5Product differences
The task is shared where possible, but selection, interface integration and model operations follow the host shown below.
Creates point/block assets in AutoCAD model space using the shared bulk engine.
BCAD performs the same CSV mapping and Teigha entity creation.
6Troubleshooting
Easting and Northing are swapped
Choose the matching PNEZ/NEZ variant instead of PENZ/ENZ and reload before importing.
Import is disabled
Select at least one valid row, assign a real asset type and choose Existing/Proposed when a selected SpotHeight row requires it.
Rows are skipped after import
Read each Status value. Correct malformed coordinates, missing asset definitions or attribute validation issues, then import only the failed rows.
