1Overview

Measure Tools provides distance, area and coordinate modes. Street View activates a placement marker and opens nearby Google imagery where coverage and browser permissions allow it.

Use this guide when

Estimating separation, checking a mapped coordinate or visually reviewing nearby public context.

2Before you begin

  • Treat browser map measurements as review aids, not survey observations.
  • Internet access is required for Street View and basemap context.

3Measurement limits

Measurements and imagery support review but do not replace survey or source-file evidence.

Choose the right tool, verify context and keep temporary observations separate from source data.

Choose a measurement

Open Distance, Area or Coordinates.

  1. Open Tools and choose Measure Tools.
  2. Select the required mode.
  3. Place the points and complete or clear the measurement.

6Troubleshooting

The measurement tool will not finish

Use the tool's complete action or double-click where supported, then clear and restart if a previous sketch remains active.

Street View opens no image

Move the marker to a mapped road with available coverage and confirm popups or external content are not blocked.
