1Overview
The infrADAC Updates window checks the stable software channel and the profile packages available to the active licence. Selected items are downloaded and verified. Profile packages are applied in the CAD session, while a software package is staged for the separate updater.
A profile update can finish inside the Updates window. A software update must launch the updater and wait for the CAD host to close before application files are replaced.
2Before checking
- Save the active drawing or 12d project.
- Connect to the internet.
- Keep the current licence valid so the update service can identify entitled software and profile packages.
- Allow time to close AutoCAD, BricsCAD Pro or 12d Model when a software package is ready to install.
If an installed profile contains a User folder, decide whether to merge those customisations into the update or replace the profile and discard them.
3Check and install updates
Open infrADAC Updates
Start the check from the host interface.
- Select Update from the infrADAC interface or run
ADACUpdate. - Wait while the window checks internet access and authorises release access.
- If a previously downloaded software package is pending, choose whether to run the updater now.
Review available items
Compare installed and server versions.
- Software appears when the stable release differs from the installed plugin version.
- Entitled profiles appear when a newer package revision is available.
- Select only the items you want to download.
Choose profile handling
Protect or replace detected user customisations.
If selected profiles contain a User folder, the Profile update options prompt lists them.
- Select Yes to merge user changes where possible.
- Select No to replace the profile and discard those changes.
- Select Cancel to stop the update run.
Back up customised profiles before choosing No.
Download and verify
Each selected file is staged and checked.
- Select Download selected.
- Wait for each item to reach 100%.
- infrADAC compares the downloaded file with the expected SHA-256 value.
- A mismatched or missing checksum stops that item from being installed.
Launch the software updater
Complete the staged software installation.
- At Launch the updater now, select Yes to continue immediately or No to keep the package pending.
- Close the CAD host when the updater displays Close your CAD program to continue.
- Leave the updater open while it verifies, backs up and applies files.
Save work and close the listed process yourself. The updater checks again until the host is no longer running.
Confirm completion
Finish the update and reopen the host.
- Wait for Update completed successfully.
- Close the updater and reopen AutoCAD, BricsCAD Pro or 12d Model.
- Allow infrADAC to run its normal startup checks.
- Review release notes if the downloaded-release popup appears.
The Windows app entry is repaired after application and the new files become active on the next host launch.
4Profile package updates
Profiles are checked only for packages available to the current licence. The downloaded .idc is verified before installation.
| Situation | Current behaviour | User choice |
|---|---|---|
| No installed profile | Installs the downloaded profile under its published filename. | No merge prompt. |
| Existing profile without User content | Safely replaces the profile and removes the old filename if it changed. | No merge prompt. |
| Existing profile with User content | Offers to merge custom content into the update or replace it. | Yes = merge, No = discard, Cancel = stop. |
5Pending software updates
If a software package was downloaded but the updater was not launched, the next ADACUpdate run displays Software update pending installation.
- Select Yes to launch the staged package.
- Select No to leave it pending.
- If the staged package was removed, infrADAC clears the pending state and asks you to download it again.
- If updater launch fails, the pending state is restored so the action can be retried.
6Backups, rollback and logs
Before replacing existing application files, the updater creates a timestamped backup. If application fails or is cancelled, it attempts to restore replaced files and remove only files created by that update.
The updater reports a SHA mismatch
Run the update check again and download a new package. Do not manually apply the staged zip.
Files are still in use
Close all CAD processes, including background AutoCAD or BricsCAD processes, then select Retry.
Access is denied
Select Retry after confirming the target folders are writable. If the installation is under a protected location, run the updater as Administrator.
The update fails part way through
The updater attempts rollback and displays an animal-named support code with the user message. Retain the timestamped updater log and quote the code exactly when contacting support.
