1Overview
Standard assets come from the active profile or Base Schema. ADACStandard opens the available catalogue and routes the selected definition through its configured geometry and attribute workflow.
Creating a new ADAC asset rather than assigning data to existing geometry.
2Standard asset definition behaviour
The active profile controls the geometry, attributes and drawing presentation offered by the creation workflow.
| Feature or choice | Current behaviour |
|---|---|
| Standard source | Uses the effective DefaultAssets definition: profile base plus any user standard override.Creation and audit reference the same schema. |
| Identity | A unique ADACId is generated/reserved or a valid custom value can replace it.Audit and supporting files can identify the asset reliably. |
| Property block | Normal single creation honours Show Attributes on Insert; bulk workflows intentionally suppress blocks.Visual labels remain optional and scalable. |
3Create a schema-defined asset
Choose the definition first, then create only the geometry and attributes that its schema accepts.
Open the standard asset selector
Choose the definition from the active catalogue.
- Run
ADACStandardor choose Standard Asset from the interface. - Search by class or name.
- Select the asset whose definition and geometry match the intended feature.
Create the geometry
Follow the prompts defined by the asset configuration.
- Place a point/block, draw linework or define a polygon as requested.
- For grouped geometry, complete every required component.
- Cancel before committing if the geometry type is wrong.
Complete and save attributes
Review merged project defaults and per-asset values.
- Confirm a unique ADACId.
- Review global prefills for the asset category.
- Complete required specific attributes and calculated fields.
- Attach supporting files where required, then save the form.
4Product differences
The task is shared where possible, but selection, interface integration and model operations follow the host shown below.
Use the ribbon or ADACStandard; geometry is created in the AutoCAD database.
Use the ribbon or ADACStandard; geometry is created through BricsCAD/Teigha entities.
5Before you begin
- Initialise the project and load the intended profile.
- Set relevant global and asset-specific prefills.
- Work on the intended layer and confirm drawing units.
6Troubleshooting
No standard assets are available
Verify the active profile/base standard contains a valid DefaultAssets file and reload the profile.
The created geometry is rejected
Check the definition's geometry intent in ADACLibrary and use a supported point, line/polyline, polygon or grouped construction.
The property block is missing
Check Settings > Show Attributes. The asset data can still be valid; use ADACRecreateAttributes when a block should exist.
