1Overview
Annotation and Dimension live under the Enhancements definition in the active standard data. ACAD and BCAD can create the enhancement geometry through their dedicated commands. DCAD applies one-time enhancement attributes to an existing native 12d Text or Dimension element. Both types participate in audit/export and are excluded from ADACClone.
ADAC deliverables require explanatory annotation or a measured dimension represented as an enhancement asset.
2Create an enhancement asset
Use the dedicated command because annotations and dimensions have specialised geometry handling.
Prepare and choose the enhancement
Use the dedicated command for the intended native type.
- Confirm the Enhancement definition is available.
- DCAD: create the intended native Text or Dimension element in 12d before starting infrADAC.
- Run
ADACAnnotatefor Annotation orADACDimensionfor Dimension.
Complete the product geometry step
Follow the specialised prompt for the active product.
- ACAD/BCAD: place the Annotation content or define/select the Dimension geometry.
- DCAD: complete the pre-launch output-window pick for one existing native Text or Dimension element.
- For a DCAD Dimension, the measure is inferred from its first two vertices when no measure is already available.
Complete attributes and save
Enhancements still require project context.
- Review the generated identity and Enhancement attributes.
- Complete required values.
- Save the asset.
3Enhancement behaviour
These assets share audit/export but not all normal asset-maintenance operations.
| Feature or choice | Current behaviour |
|---|---|
| Definition source | Loads Enhancements.Annotation or Enhancements.Dimension from effective standard data.Receiver schema controls the enhancement fields. |
| Dimension selection | ACAD/BCAD can use supported drawing selection; DCAD uses the pre-launch output-window pick for one existing native Dimension. The enhancement remains attached to a compatible product object. |
| Audit | Counts annotation and dimension assets separately and validates geometry/attributes.Reports distinguish enhancements from standard/supplementary assets. |
| Clone and edit restriction | ADACClone rejects both types. DCAD enhancements are also replace-only after creation.Specialised geometry and association semantics are preserved. |
4Before you begin
- Load a profile/base standard containing Enhancements Annotation and Dimension definitions.
- Create or identify the intended text, measured object or dimension context.
- Use the infrADAC layer and correct units.
5Product differences
The task is shared where possible, but selection, interface integration and model operations follow the host shown below.
Creates AutoCAD annotation/dimension entities and associated infrADAC data.
BCAD uses equivalent BricsCAD enhancement entities.
Annotation and Dimension each collect one existing native 12d object through the pre-launch output-window pick. DCAD applies enhancement attributes once to that exact object, and incorrect enhancements are removed and recreated rather than edited or cloned.
6Troubleshooting
No annotation or dimension data is available
Reload a valid profile/base schema whose DefaultAssets contains the required Enhancements definition.
A dimension skips associated geometry during export
Ensure the dimension and any associated arc/measurement entity are complete and supported, then rerun audit.
Clone or DCAD Edit refuses the enhancement
Create another item with ADACAnnotate or ADACDimension. In DCAD, remove the incorrect enhancement and apply the command to a replacement native element.
