1Overview

Find builds a current inventory of infrADAC assets. ACAD and BCAD group model-space XData by class, asset type and ADACId. DCAD discovers both infrADAC flat attributes and native nested Adac data, returns exact model and element UIDs, identifies the chosen element in red and centres it in the existing Plan viewport without changing the zoom or window layout.

Use this guide when

Locating an audit failure, checking duplicates, navigating a large project or handing an exact asset to Edit.

2Search, highlight and frame

Use the result to locate the exact stored object before editing or investigating its context.

Step 1
01

Open and scan

Build the current asset tree.

  1. Run ADACFind.
  2. Wait for the Asset Count to update.
  3. Select Refresh after bulk external changes if needed.

3Find indexing

The results come from current design objects, not profile definitions alone.

Feature or choiceCurrent behaviour
Search fieldsMatches class, asset type, ADACId and layer case-insensitively.One search box covers the common identifiers.
Tree groupingGroups model assets by class then type, with ADACId leaves.Large designs remain scannable.
SelectionACAD/BCAD set the implied selection and use transient highlighting; DCAD identifies the exact native point or complete string element by model and UID and redraws that element in red.The result is not inferred from a name, centroid marker or display order.
ViewportDWG products use entity extents or a fallback point/window. DCAD reads the existing Plan viewport, moves its centre to the selected element and retains the current width and height.DCAD does not restore, maximise or fit a 12d view when a result is opened.

4Before you begin

  • Open the drawing or 12d project containing the assets.
  • Know any part of the class, type, ADACId or layer value.
  • Clear unrelated CAD selections if they make the target hard to see.

5Product differences

The task is shared where possible, but selection, interface integration and model operations follow the host shown below.

infrADAC ACAD

Scans AutoCAD model space and selects ObjectIds.

6Troubleshooting

Asset Count is zero

Confirm the active design contains infrADAC identity data and the correct project is open. Use ADACEdit to inspect a known object; ACAD/BCAD can also use ADACXData.

Search finds the wrong duplicate

Expand the class/type group and compare ADACId and layer. Run audit or Clean to repair duplicate identities.

A DCAD string centres but does not turn red

Refresh Find after external geometry changes and activate the exact asset leaf again. Find should redraw the complete selected polyline or polygon UID, not create a temporary point at its centre.

The result is highlighted but not centred

Keep a Plan view available and refresh after geometry changes. DCAD deliberately preserves the current zoom; use native 12d zoom controls when a tighter view is required.
