1Overview
The side menu builds filter groups for the active map mode and file. Class controls support full or partial visibility, nested asset lists and colour swatches; information labels can be added and refreshed independently from source geometry.
Isolating a network, tracing a problem asset or preparing a clear review view.
2Focus the map
Choose the mode, narrow visibility and apply styling in that order.
Choose the filter group
Filter meaning follows the active map mode.
- Open the file's asset filter area.
- Expand the required class or status group.
- Use the eye control to show or hide the complete group.
Refine individual assets
Nested checkboxes allow partial visibility.
- Expand the asset list.
- Clear individual assets that should be hidden.
- Use the tri-state class checkbox to understand partial selection.
Adjust presentation
Display changes do not edit the XML.
- Choose a colour swatch for the class or status group.
- Enable supported information labels.
- Zoom to a useful scale and refresh labels after a mode or file change.
3Display state
Filters and colours alter browser map graphics, not the uploaded XML.
| Feature or choice | Current behaviour |
|---|---|
| Per-file state | Visibility and nested asset controls are scoped to the XML file identifier. Two files can be styled independently during comparison. |
| Mode-aware colours | Free View uses class styling while Design vs Constructed uses status styling. The same geometry can communicate different review questions. |
| Labels | Information labels are map graphics generated from recognised asset properties and scale rules. They can be removed or refreshed without changing source attributes. |
4Before you begin
- Load at least one XML file.
- Select Free View or Design vs Constructed before interpreting filter colours.
5Product differences
The task is shared where possible, but selection, interface integration and model operations follow the host shown below.
The full display filter and colour workflow is available.
Map Pro uses the same map layers; XML edits can trigger a display refresh but styling itself remains a viewer preference.
6Troubleshooting
A colour swatch looks disabled
Confirm the class is visible and the active file is not disabled. Re-enable the file/group before changing its display colour.
Labels are missing
Zoom to an appropriate scale, confirm the asset type has a recognised label field and refresh after changing filters.
An asset stays visible after its class is hidden
Check whether it is also present in selected, error or label layers, then clear the selection/highlight state.
