1Overview
The workspace combines map controls, address search, location, basemap switching, a collapsible side menu, file tabs and a configurable tool bar. The Tools panel is the complete catalogue; favourites form the compact bar.
Learning the interface, restoring a hidden control or arranging a repeatable review workspace.
2Before you begin
- Load a file when you want file tabs and asset controls to be visible.
- Allow browser location access only when Find My Location is required.
3Arrange the workspace
Learn the fixed navigation controls first, then tailor only the compact tool bar.
Use map navigation
Pan, zoom, search and reframe without changing data.
- Drag to pan and use the wheel or +/- controls to zoom.
- Use address search or Find My Location when appropriate.
- Switch the basemap when aerial or street context is more useful.
Open information controls
Use the side menu and overlays for context.
- Expand the side menu and the required metadata section.
- Open the legend to decode asset symbols and colours.
- Use the compass and file tabs to maintain orientation and active-file context.
Customise the tool bar
Favourites are stored in browser settings.
- Open Tools and add or remove favourites.
- Enter tool bar edit mode to drag, swap or remove tools.
- Resize or collapse the bar and confirm the resulting order.
4Product differences
The task is shared where possible, but selection, interface integration and model operations follow the host shown below.
5Navigation and saved preferences
Map movement is temporary; favourites, tool order and some display preferences persist in the browser.
| Feature or choice | Current behaviour |
|---|---|
| Tools catalogue | Groups Map Tools, Map Pro XML File Tools and Resources in one modal.Features remain discoverable even when they are not favourites. |
| Favourites | The default bar includes Map, List View, Wiki, Design vs Constructed, Collaborate, Help, Audit and Support; the browser stores later changes.A repeated review can begin with the same tools. |
| Responsive layout | Controls and the side menu reflow for narrow screens, while the map remains the primary surface.Tablet and mobile review remains possible without overlapping controls. |
6Troubleshooting
Find My Location does nothing
Allow location permission for the site and confirm the browser/device provides a location. Use address search when location access is unavailable.
A favourite disappeared
Open Tools and add it again. Browser storage clearing or a private session can reset the saved favourite set.
Controls cover the map on a small screen
Collapse the side menu and compact tool bar, then use the Tools panel only when a command is needed.
