1Overview

REST Services opens the configured council and utility directory and adds selected ArcGIS service layers to the map. Boundary and reference layers remain separate from uploaded XML assets and can be managed independently.

Use this guide when

Checking an asset against council boundaries, utility context or another published map service.

2Before you begin

  • Internet access is required for remote services.
  • Confirm the selected service is appropriate and current for the review.

3Reference-layer boundaries

Remote layers provide context and are never written into the uploaded ADAC data.

Feature or choiceCurrent behaviour
Remote availabilityService layers depend on the publisher, network access and current endpoint configuration.A failed reference layer does not mean the uploaded XML failed.
Layer separationREST graphics and XML asset graphics use different map layers and controls.Context cannot be accidentally exported as ADAC XML.
Council boundariesConfigured boundary services can identify the relevant local-government area and support council/utility context.Review can be directed to the intended receiving authority.

4Add map context

Choose a trusted service, add only the required layer and manage it separately from XML files.

Step 1
01

Open the service directory

Use the REST control or Tools panel.

  2. Browse the available council or utility entries.
  3. Review the service name and layer description before adding it.

5Product differences

The task is shared where possible, but selection, interface integration and model operations follow the host shown below.

infrADAC MAP

Configured REST services and council/utility layers are available where the service is online.

6Troubleshooting

A service does not load

Check service status and internet access, then retry. The external publisher may be unavailable or may have changed permissions or layer identifiers.

The reference layer hides assets

Change visibility or zoom level, or remove the service. Keep only the layers needed for the current question.
