1Overview
Settings combines General, Profile and Licence & Updates areas. It also provides direct access to logs, support and help, and separates default settings from user overrides. Some General controls affect only the DWG products and are identified below.
Changing host behaviour, import/export folders, log filters, profiles, licence status or update behaviour.
2Settings scope
The interface groups user preferences, profile packages and project folders, but each has a different persistence scope.
| Feature or choice | Current behaviour |
|---|---|
| Show Attributes | Controls visible property-block insertion in ACAD/BCAD; DCAD has no DWG property-block capability. The setting is not presented as a native 12d label control. |
| DCAD Multi-Select Default | Stores whether the Generate Source Box initially opens in Single or Multi selection mode. Bulk uses a separate compact direct-selection panel and is not controlled by this setting. The setting changes only Generate's initial selection mode; users can still change the Generate Source Box mode before continuing. |
| DCAD New Object | Checked by default. Generate creates a separate native asset from the selected geometry and leaves every source object unchanged. Clear it only when the selected object itself should receive the new definition. If in-place mode would replace existing ADAC identity or attributes, Generate lists the affected objects and requires explicit confirmation before any change. |
| ADAC New menu | Controls ACAD/BCAD text style, infrADAC layer, drawing units and line-display actions. DCAD skips those drawing changes.Existing DWG standards can be protected without implying equivalent 12d changes. |
| Profile panel | Loads and maintains .idc packages, default profiles, custom icons, revisions and supplementary definitions.Profile administration is no longer a separate hidden workflow. |
| Licence and Updates | Shows activation, holder, expiry, version, update status and update logs.Maintenance status is visible without leaving the host. |
3Change and save settings
Open Settings, change the relevant area and use Apply or OK to save.
Open Settings
Review the current effective values.
- Run
ADACSettings. - Check General settings and folder paths.
- Review active profile and licence/update status.
Configure general behaviour
Set applicable product and diagnostic preferences.
- ACAD/BCAD: choose whether asset property blocks are shown on insert.
- DCAD: set the persisted Multi-Select Default used when Generate opens its native Source Box; Bulk macros use their own compact direct-selection panel.
- DCAD: leave New Object checked to make Generate copy source geometry into a separate asset, or clear it to attribute the selected native object in place.
- Select log filter levels: Debug, Info, Warn, Error and Fatal.
- ACAD/BCAD: open ADAC New and enable or disable text style, infrADAC layer, metres and line-thickness actions.
- DCAD: these DWG drawing actions and property blocks are not applied to 12d Model.
Manage folders and profiles
Keep paths writable and controlled.
- Set import and export folders.
- Use the embedded Profile panel to load, create, edit, import, export, delete or reset profiles.
- Move the profile folder only after deciding whether existing profiles should be moved.
Save the settings
Use Apply for staged changes or OK to save and close.
- Select Apply to save without closing Settings.
- Select OK to save and close.
- Select Cancel to discard unsaved changes.
4Product differences
The task is shared where possible, but selection, interface integration and model operations follow the host shown below.
Settings is shown modelessly through the AutoCAD host and writes user settings under the infrADAC local root.
BCAD exposes the same settings surface in BricsCAD.
The desktop Settings form manages profiles, folders, logs, updates and support. Multi-Select Default controls only Generate's initial Source Box mode; Bulk macros use their own compact direct-selection panels. The checked-by-default New Object option makes Generate create separate native assets and retain its source geometry; clear it to attribute selected objects in place. DWG-only ADAC New drawing actions do not change the active 12d project.
5Before you begin
- Open the intended CAD host and project.
- Decide whether the change belongs to this user, the active profile or the current project.
- Back up custom profiles before moving, deleting or resetting them.
6Troubleshooting
Apply or OK does not retain a value
Check the local settings/profile folder is writable, inspect ADACLog and verify a profile update has not replaced user files.
A profile control is disabled
Protected default profiles cannot be deleted, and some editing controls require a loaded non-embedded profile. Load or clone a suitable profile first.
Update status says Licence Required
Refresh the licence with ADACLicence before checking updates. Entitled profile packages depend on valid licence data.
